Hi I am trying to upgrade some objects from a Navision 3.56 made by another NSC to an Attain 3.70. What would be the best way to do the upgrade ? Must I upgrade step by step to several Financials versions and futher on to Attain, or is it better to make the changes all over in Attain ? I dont think that there are many modifications made in 3.56, so I hope that this solution is possible. What about the data ? How shall I convert from 3.56 to Attain ? The 3.56 modifications uses mainly new tables and G/L Entry (Finanspost). Is it possible simply to export from 3.56 and import in Attain ? Are there any documentation available regarding developing in 3.56 anywhere ? Some code looks like Attain, but some not From the Versionlist field and/or Date-stamp I can see what elements seems to be modified. Is it possible to export a single object and how do I do that ? Any suggestions and tips are welcome. Best regards Lars Jensen
Could you explain what you are trying to achive: 1) Re-programm an add-on from Nav Blue to an actual Navision? 2) Upgrade the whole application including data? 3) Export and import some data and some objects? 4) Something else? Maybe try to be more specific …
Considering the HUGE difference between 3.56 and Navision 3.70 I think You should look at it as a new system, not an upgrade. I would’nt go int to any conversion if I where You. I would treat is just the same way as if I was moving from another system to Navision. Any modifications should be rewritten from scratch.
The way to do it is 3.56 → 2.60 → 3.60 → 3.70. But there should not be any problem - only some work to do.

Here is what I want to do: I have to either move or re-program some objects from 3.56 to latest Navision. There are a few new tables with data and of course some standard tables with data. My question is whether I should export data from 3.56 and import them in Navision via dataports, or if I should make an upgrade from 3.56 to latest Navision. And should I make the objects from scratch again in Navision, or can I upgrade them easily. Hope this explains my question better to you. Regards Lars Jensen
To Lars J.: I would agree with Lars W. And if it is only a few ‘add-on’ tables and objects I would re-program them again in 3.70. And export and import the data of these tables maybe. But I would in NO CASE try to export and import G/L Entries! The data structure is really different. As in your profile you are not with a too long Navision history … As I understand you don’t want to upgrade the whole system, but you already have a new 3.70 system. So try to stick with the simple way. The additional tables from Nav Blue 3.56. are not BTW meanwhile a part of the Navision application in 3.70?
Thanks all I will make the objects from scratch in Navision 3.70, and it seems that I dont have to think about converting the data at the moment. /Lars
