Update conflicts in D365 sales Main form Header

In Sales module, for open Sales Orders, once the material is ready, Sales Dispatch Planner attempts to update the Mode of Delivery and Terms at the Sales Order header level. However, when these changes are made directly in the header, system generates an “Update Conflict” error (refer to the attached screenshot).

Interestingly, the changes are accepted without any error when performed in the following sequence:

  1. Update the Mode of Delivery and Terms at the Sales Order line level first.
  2. Then update the same fields at the Sales Order header level.

In this scenario, system saves the changes successfully without triggering the update conflict.

but updating the Mode of Delivery and Terms at the line level first has an additional impact. The system automatically re-applies existing Miscellaneous Charge Group, resulting in duplicate miscellaneous charges being added to the sales order. This creates discrepancies in the order totals and requires manual correction, making the process time-consuming and inefficient.

Please advise on the root cause of this behavior what it could be and suggest a suitable resolution
