Tool for how big is the your upgrade

Does anyone have a tool that can be run against a NAV 2018 database that gathers some statistics to help see how big an upgrade might be? It would need to gather info such as how many custom objects, how many custom fields in tables, % of code that has been modified on an object etc…

Not expecting a miracle but a quick, easy report that does this for me would save some time.

Hey Jason,

1Click Factory has a tool that works well.

What is the output? What kind of things does it tell you? Anyone have a sample of this?

One tool that can be used for gathering statistics for an upgrade of NAV 2018 is the Upgrade Toolkit provided by Microsoft. This toolkit includes a set of tools that can help analyze and upgrade NAV databases. Specifically, the MergeTool tool can be used to analyze the differences between two versions of a NAV database, and produce a report of the objects and changes that will need to be upgraded.

To use the MergeTool, you will need to have both the old and new versions of the NAV database, and the tool will analyze the differences between them. The output report will include information on the number of objects that need to be upgraded, as well as a list of modified objects and the percentage of code that has been modified. Additionally, the report can be customized to include other metrics as needed.

It should be noted that the MergeTool is a command-line tool, so some technical expertise may be required to use it effectively. However, there are also third-party tools available that can provide a more user-friendly interface for analyzing NAV databases, such as the NAV Object Analyzer by Simplanova.
