The difference between BALANCE and BALANCE DUE

Would anyone be able to tell me what the difference between BALANCE and BALANCE DUE are? When I run an AR report and I filter on BALANCE >0 it returns a value that is different than BALANCE DUE >0. So I’m trying to figure out what the difference is. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks!

Balance :- Show the current balance of customer
Balance Due :- Shows the balance due from customer
