Slow performance of NAV server

We have a NAV 2009 server and a SQL server 2008 installed, the NAV is taking a lot of time to startup and the performance is way below par.Currently a number of ERP services are running in the NAV. Please suggest a step-by-step solution to optimize the server. It would also be a great help if you could tell us how to disable the “Always Rowlock” option and a systematic approach to minimize the blocks/deadlocks which are notified by the SQL Profiler.

Hi, in this post there is nice bullet list of thighs to be checked in order to improve performance and in this and this articles some information on how identify and reduce deadlocks.

Feel free to come up with further questions.
