Sales Return order doubts

Hi ,

While i am going through the 80306_AX2012_ENUS_DAT - AX2012_ENUS_DAT_10. and could not able to understand the following points .

Return Order - Every RMA includes an associated sales order (with a sales order type of returned order) that only handles the arrival, receipt, and credit note for the returned item. When you create an RMA it automatically creates the associated return order that represents a mirror image of the RMA. Any changes that you make to the RMA information automatically changes information in the return order.

a) What is RMA ? Is it seperate document ? and what is the path ?

b) when you create an RMA it automatically creates the associated return order that represents a mirror image of the RMA. , what does it mean ?

• Replacement Order - An RMA can include a second associated sales order when a replacement order must be shipped to the customer. You can manually create the replacement order for the RMA to support immediate shipment, or automatically create the replacement order after the RMA line item (with a disposition code that indicates replacement) undergoes arrival/inspection and receipt.

c) An RMA can include a second associated sales order when a replacement order . What does it mean ?

Please explain in detail .

Thanx in advance.

The RMA is the return order, it stands for Return Material Authorisation, the Return order number is the RMA. It means the RMA is the return order (that is also linked to a sales order).

c) from the functions the create replacement order can be created to ship a replacement out to the customer and have it linked to the return order the customer is returning the item against.

Thanks Steven ,

Could you give the answer to the above question ?

Where can i view the link between replacement order and return order ?

As per my knowledge,

RMA is nothing but return order and u can create return order from the following location.

sales and marketing → Return Order–> Create return order.

Screen for Return order looks very similar to sales order screen but here you have RMA number,

Once the return order (RMA) is created, sales order is automatically created in the background which will have Sales Id and SalesType is ‘ReturnOrder’.

Return order lines can be entered in two ways

  1. directly by selecting the itmes.

  2. clicking Find Sales Order button : in this case return order lines will have assosiated sales order (status- invoiced) and linkage is through return lot id. (inventTransIdReturn in sales line).

Once items are registered for the Return Order, corresponding sales order can be seen in sales Table List Page with the order type = Returned order.

sales and marketing → Sales Order Order–> All sales order.

The return order is the RMA, it is an interchangeable concept.

The replacement order is referenced in the general tab of the return order.
