Hi Andre, You can access the characters in a text variable just by using an index, so the code should be even more simple (and efficient!): 1. For i := 1 To Strlen(OldText) NewText[Strlen(OldText) - i + 1] := OldText[i]; Next i 2. Just how do you manage to keep the indentations in your code? Leading blanks are always stripped when I post some code…

  1. many ways are lead to Rome [:D] 2. MBSUG rules: ‘Please RTFM - in this case RTFFAQ’[:D] Just use the [ code ] and [ /code ] (both without blanks) signs or select # from the menu. bye André

Yuck. Shame on me. I knew this one would be coming… [:I]

A format is needed course you can’t assign a char to a text. text[1] = char text := format(char)

Why don’t you put all yuor text into yuor signature? This seems to work just fine?

What text? btw, You are typing this… I’m sure. Look at your "your"s you typed.

Oh, your system seems to work[:D]. Otherwise as Heinz suggested you could put all your postings into your disclaimer (the real programmers stuff) hence only post your disclaimer [:D]. bye André

Oh, ok. But with my code a FORMAT is not necessary because you are assigning chars to chars. And if you keep the Strlen in a local variable, I hereby contend my code is more efficient than yours using a FORMAT and a += [:D]

Would I have asked for the program if I had not been typing this? [:D][:D][:D] Btw, how far have we got - now we are discussing coding details in the Break Space forum! [;)]

Better you shouldn’t have mentioned this. You will see. With the next posting Emiel ask for his stars[;)]. bye André

Heinz Herbeck, I disagree very! My code is much more readable. Ok, ok… += should not be used, but that’s quickly fixed. And why not use the DOWNTO? It there… It’s not biting… It’s not forbitten. And what about all those +es en -es? Newtext[Strlen(OldText) - i + 1 + root of days in year - shoesize / age little sister * number of egges in my ear). And your function will not give a overflow error it the string will get to long. Plus the reason you do not have to use a format is course you assign a char to char. But you know what the bigest boner is? When “translation” of the string “blabla” 10000 times, YOUR code is about 100 ms faster then mine. That’s nice, but then again… I really think mine is nicer.

ERIK!!! I want some more stars, like andre says… I’m discussing code!

You shouldn’t have mentioned this. [;)] I actually was tempted to add the comment “…and we don’t even get our postings counted” at the end of that last sentence, but then decided not to do so for obvious reasons. [8D] You have just thwarted my good intentions [8D]

What?? I shouldn’t have mentioned this? I never did this (that is for sure[8D]). Please read my posting carefully. btw. From which thread is the above quotet of mine?[}:)] [:D][:D] bye Andre

roflol, you deleted it Andre… Don’t try pulling my leg or I’ll pull your hair [:P]

No! I would (almost) never something delete here in this forum. Another font color does the trick [8D]. Otherwise the fullstops wouldn’t work. bye André

Oh, really? And whose signature says that code should be hard to understand??? [:p]

Well, is there anything besides execution speed that really counts? [:o)]

Nice try [8D] But we all read it, have it in our browser cache, saved it to CD-ROM and printed it 101 times. No way out. [^]

Hi Folks Am I wrong if I conclude the following from this thread: 1. at least 4 users of this forum are not full working to capacity 2. at least 4 users of this forum have boost her noncountable post-per-day-rate up to the sky today 3. at least 4 users had a lot of fun today [:D][:D][:D] PS Sorry Steven. bye André

Much appreciated André [:D] Although dipping out of the code (non-starred) discussion being a pure implementor and unconcerned with the complexities of code “Of course we can do that . . . . [:D]” I would consider myself a fourth person who has enjoyed the day!
