Hey all,
I have a client that needs to process 10,000 API calls (shipment transaction) in a few hours (like 3-4). In short, they outsource order fulfillment, and they have a very seasonal business so many orders are fulfilled in a few days. The outsourced fulfillment center sends them huge volumes of shipments at a time. The rest of the year is lower, but this spike of shipping records can reach 7,000 to10,000 in a day, a few days a year.
The API documentation sets the limit on number of requests at 600 a minute. In theory, that means that (600 x 60) 36,000 API calls should be allowed in an hour.
I’m not really looking for coding or tuning advice, more wondering if people have seen volumes like that actually work or if that 600 requests per minute is more theoretical. Have you seen API volumes to this level at any of your companies or clients? What should someone expect in reality?
Thanks
