Howdy Once again i am asking for any assistance. my company happens to be very anal on security. After recenelty migrating from a Pervasive based system we are now using Navision Attain 3.6 on a SQL Server 2000 platform. Our resellers have requested remote access which has been approved but on a read only level. My question is… Can Navision be set completely to read only through Navision? remembering that the developers will have their own licences or can/should I use the SQL Server security to set everything to read only? Anyone ever tried this? Many thanks
Its a task of groups and rolls in usermanagement of navision. Someone else had this problem 2 or 3 weeks ago and it was discussed in this forum
When starting the Navision client, use the “dbreadonly” switch. eg. “C:\Program Files\Navision\2.60c\FIN.EXE” database=c:\My Documents\database.fdb, dbreadonly=yes I have used this on a C/Side database version 2.60. Hope this works on yhour system too!
hi chris, you just need to set up a simle read only user, you can still give them permission to access the object designer. the only problem, is that they need to set this up for you, so you will need to rely on them … oops
