i have two forecasts qty of 1000 in two sepatrate weeks, and I have a production order where the quantity exceeds the first forecast by 100(1100 total)…this 100 is netting off the second weeks forecast when I calculate a reg’n plan. the problem is that the production order is already in process and I cant be changing numbers and verifying every production order suggested on my planning worksheet…is there a way or some kind of mod I can use to ignore all previous supply or projected supply when running MRP/MPS?
im trying to create production orders based off a component forecast for next year. anything in production now that exceeds my first forecasted qty is netting off the suggested order.
Productions forecast is actually Demand forecast - so you cant exclude overproduction quantity… System will always net this quantity off from proposed production orders…
Right…we’ve already modified the code and added an “exclude inventory” function…this allows us to run MRP/MPS as if the items’ reordering policy was set to “order”…our business requires us to have items set to “Lot-for-Lot” for day to day creation of production orders, but when forecasting for next year, we need to be able to ignore all previous inventory, projected inventory, etc…unfortunatly we need something like expiration dates, but we are not prepared to accomodate the administration that goes along with serial and lot numbers…is there a quick and dirty way around this??
“exclude forecast before” only excludes forecasted numbers…my problem is actual quantities from over production now, resulting in projected inventory which, in turn, nets off my forecast in the future…
I need expiry dates, but our business(floral industry) demands that we be able to pull finished goods off the floor depending on the readiness of the crop…we might output half a production order to be consumed in a sellable level order, and let the rest grow for another week…so, we may pull from another lot to cover off an order.
this makes using lot numbers and serial numbers complicated and administratively challenging. if we had expiry dates, the over-produced, projected inventory, would expire 2-3 weeks after being output, resulting in an ability to run MPS for next year and not worry about anything netting off forecasts…
“order-for-order” would work, but then we would not be able to lot together demand for day to day operations…we have well over 1000 items, with multiple levels, so changing the order policy back and forth doesn’t work…
I think you should be able to use Blanket Orders for “Dummy” customer instead of forecast and “order-for-order” policy… You will need to make small mod that will allocate sales orders to Blanket Orders for “Dummy” customer when order released (this will save time at order entry).
Not sure how this would work, since the forecast I’m trying to run for is a component forecast…also, this could prove extremely difficault to manage considering we have approx 1500 items which all have forecasted numbers throughout the year that we then produce…running MPS from forecast is how we create production orders and order all the material goods for said items…
