Getting this message when trying to post a GL JE. The entry was to reverse an entry that was previosly posted. The users say they were trying ‘manually invert it’.
What does this message mean, and how to I correct the root cause?

Are you using the reversal feature on journal entry? Seems that the posting date is perhaps a back entry date and reversal date is current date.
Make sure if reversal entry is being used then the reversal date should be after the posting date.
