Physical Inventory Journal

Is there a way to include items that have Quanity on Hand = 0 when running the CAlculate Inventory report in the Physical INventory Journal?

Hi, U can create ur own process only report with Inventory filter as Zero and populate the Journal Lines. Cheers

Just select “Items not on Inventory” in the options tab.

Hi, By the way, there is a “feature” in all versions of Navision (1.10 to 3.70) regarding “Items not on Inventory” that you might want to be aware of: “Items not on Inventory” only picks up items which have had some transactional history. For example: If you create an item, buy it, sell it (So Inventory = 0), then “Items not on Inventory” picks it up and creates a line in the journal. If you create a new item record with no transactional history, “Items not on Inventory” will not pick it up. We found this out when one of our clients did a stock check and found that they actually had a unit of an item that had never posted a transaction for on Navision. As a result they were puzzled why they could not find the item in the journal to correct the stock. We advised them to post a positive stock adjustment instead.

Surely they were as puzzled as to how - in a stock control environment - they came by it “without” it being on the system [:D]

Hi Steven, Not quite as puzzled as we were [:D]. The client in question is a one user site that only uses Navision inventory to a limited degree and I think that the item on the shelf predated the system. At the end of the day, someone has to enter it on Navision for Navision to know about it.[B)]

The joy of stock Maybe at this time of year it is down to Santa delivering and removing stock? [:D]

Hello, what is the official way to make an inventory at system startup? Every customer has to do it - it shouldn’t be such a problem!! Lars

Opening Inventory balances at the beginning of a new system could be entered through the item journal, although you naturally have to balance this with the accounts opening balances and ensure you cost the items correctly on import (preferably not at zero [;)]). If you have GRNI then you may consider booking these in through the purchase function to regenerate the receipts to apply to the incoming invoices.
