Hi all. What are the general feelings about using Navision passwords as opposed to OS authentication? Personally I do not like the idea of OS authentcation, but I also hate the fact that Navision does not force passwords to change after a period of time. Any thoughts? Cheers.
It works well at Thermo where all user authentication is managed through the Active Directory. It would appear best for corporate environments where there is a legislative demand for security administration.
Windows authentication is hands down the most secure authentication available to you. Database authentication for Navision Server or SQL Server doesn’t come close, even with the new TCPS network protocol for Navision Server in version 4.0. The only issue with it is that to avoid the walk-up-and-use situation with an intruder using a user’s machine, you must ensure that your users lock their workstations.
