Pass filter to a RTC classic report 2009R2

I am working on a role center for our engineering group in 2009R2 and working with the item card reports.

I am wondering how to pass a filter to the report (classic or RDLC) based on the item the user is viewing on the item card. What I am trying to do is: user viewing an item, click on a report in the action pane and have that report run for the item being viewed (at least populate the filter in the dialog box). It would be good to know how for both a classic report and a RDLC from the Role Tailored Client.

Open (any) Sales Order,

press Actions–>Print–>Order Confirmation

see how Document No. is passed…

Where do I place that code? I do not have a full developers license, we have the very basic one that allows us to put some simple code on reports.

You need to place this code on Button from where you have called this report.
