Number Series for Users

Hello everybody, Is it possible to assign no.series specific to users. That is If user X is creating a new customer then the CUX no.series should be automatically called and corresponding number should be assigned, lets say CUX001.And if user Y is creating a new customer then the CUY no.series should be automatically called and corresponding number should be assigned, lets say CUY001. Is this possible using roles and permissions? if so kindly advise. I am using Navision Attain 3.10 on windows platform. Regards,

Hello Chandan, I’m afraid that this is not possible to do using roles & permissions. You could possibly set the No. Series to manual and have your users enter the numbers, but this is rarely a practical option. It is possible do have the system use user specific No. Series by having the system developed.

Hi Chandan A non-automated way would be to create a customer no. series for each user and then make a relationship between those number series. While it will not automatically provide the number series for the user at least they will get to choose the number series at the time of creating the customer. If you really need to automate the process then it looks like development will be required. Cheers Peter

Hello Chandan, You can do this, to a certain extent without any programming, but it will have limitations: 1. Setup a different number series for each user. For example: CUSUSR1 thru CUSUSR10. 2. Setup a master number series, such as CUSTMAST. Donot specify any lines for this number series. 3. Ensure none of the No. Series have field “Default Nos.” checked. 4. Select CUSTMAST number series. Click the “Series” button and select “Relationships” menu. Add no. series CUSUSR1 thru CUSUSR10. 4. When you then create a new customer using the Customer Card, click the Assist Edit button. The system will then display the number series CUSUSR1 thru CUSUSR10, and the user must manually select appropriate no. series. Anything more would involve changes to standard Attain and programming.
