Hi, We are in the process of implementing Navision 3.1 (I know this is an old version and we are not prepared to upgrade yet as of now). Let me explain our setup to clarify my question later. We sell in-house designed figurines. When an order comes, we let the subcon do the items for us and when we receive them from the subcon/s, we pack the items as per buyer’s specs and ship them. We don’t have the capacity planning module but we have BOM setup for our items so that we can plan for the purchase of our packaging and accessories - stickers, labels - needs. My question is: can we use the Shipment Date in the SO header (Shipping Tab) to input the actual shipment date since we don’t have the scheduling option? Will the requirements of the SO be considered in the Planning Woksheet generation? We do our production orders in partial quantities as the deliveries from the subcon arrive. Then, we deliver our buyer’s orders in several shipment as the packed volume fills a container. Will this have any effect in the described scenario? Thanks.
Hi I think the planning system will accomodate your requirements. Partial receipts of production orders and partial shipment of sales orders will not matter as long as the demand and supply are balanced by the system. You should use the shipment date, I have a shaky memory regarding 3.10, did they bring in requested date on the sales header in 3.60. Either way the planning function should run off the shipment date. Ultimately I am not aware of your processing or system, so naturally I would advise you to test these scenarios first. Let us know where they fail you.
3.10 was a good stable platform (definitely better than 3.60!!!) but do concider your future before going live. You should look closely at the cost ofupgrading to 3.70 now before you have data to convert compared to the cost once you are up running.
