Navision on a Terminal Server ?

Hello Folks, Have anyone of your tried Nav 2.6 on Windows 2000 Terminal Server ? ------------ Best regards Alejandro Schubert schubert@dolphinct.de

Hi Alex Navision 2.6 on W2K Terminal server runs perfectly… and with metaframe for W2K its even better. We have a 300 user NF 2.6 SQL site running fine - it went live two weeks ago. They are currently running on some borrowed servers until their new ones get through customs today (they have come from Siemens Germany). These new servers will be up and running in about two weeks. (metaframe servers + clustered SQL servers). sounds very interesting, how do you slove the problem with the mailing and the printing. If a user have an TerminalClient, he need a network printer, and if he what to mail i need the MS Office on the Navision Server. Can the client get his sented Email in his MS Konto ? ------------ Best regards Alejandro Schubert schubert@dolphinct.de

The printing is all done remotely. One of the servers is a printer server and handles the jobs from the metaframe clients, sending them out across Australia to the customers stores. If they want calendaring etc then yes, they would need office/outlook on the terminal server… but these guys either use outlook express in the client, or use their own email program outside the client. They are all Mac users, so they have their own software for all of that stuff. For notification of Navision events, one NF client that runs permanently sends emails for them. When using a print server with NF on MetaFrame, will this stop the messing up of the printer selections, when you are adding or deleting printers?

There’s a modified codeunit 1 in the download section on www.mynavision.net which corrects the problem with printers in a WTS environment. I hope Navision fixes that one soon. It’s quite simple. Edited by - Lars Westman on 9/27/00 10:55:26 PM

If you are using Windows 2000… printers are done from the active directory anyway so these are done per user.
