Navision functionality - Manufacturing Industries

Hi, I am a newbie in manufacturing and find this forum very useful especially answers from steven. I was hoping some of you can help me on the following manufacturing q & a. 1) Can navision cater for the following types of manufacturing industry / process? and what would be that fucntionality in navision that would support these processes? - Process - Repetitive -Assemble to Order - Engineer to Order (Project Base Manufacturing) 2) MTO / MTS manufacturing policy. What is the difference between them in terms of impact on planning and reordering? 3)Does MTO nett off with production forecast? I know mts does. Rgds, sykoh

left out another question. 4) Does production lines that are reserve net off against forecast?

Hi, I would read some training material on the Manufacturing granule first. It could be very claryfying and can answer most of your questions! [;)]

Hi, Actually have read through the training material but have practically no exposure in manufacturing enviroment so am not good at trying to understand what some of the functionality is trying to cover. I trying to figure out for the above manufacturing enviroment, what would be the special or unique functionality in Navision that would be suitable for them. So sort of can introduce Navision to ppl in those industries. For instance, I sort of understand from the manual that in repetitive manufacturing industries its normal to use a production forcast as input as MRP but not so in MTO. So am hoping to gain some free insight from guru in manufacturing line.[:D] Rgds, Kelvin

For the semi process industry you would need an add - on. Theoretically you might be able to do it with standard Navision, but I think it turn out to be unpractically very fast. For the other questions I guess the answer is yes.
