HI! we have Navision Attain 3.60 running. Now we get a new server and I must install new attain 3.60. I have one harddisk 36 GB (two partitions C 10 GB and D 26 GB) how should I best install attain 3.60. Is there anything important to look for? How should I install attain because I want to use my old attain database (on 16 disks) on external storage area. (standard attain installation and when connect to the database (during setup)?) Please send me some details to that installation! Our Navision own database 32GB is placed on 16 disks. Each disk is 9 GB and there is 2 GB reserved for one *.fdb file. Database1.fdb, database2.fdb … 16 * 2GB = 32GB We want also expand our database to 64GB (16 * 4GB = 64GB) . Should expand my *.fdb files after attain installation? Or should I first make a attain own backup of my old database. Then create 16 empty 4 GB *.fdb files and restore the attain own backup? Thanks for good tips!

Hi! First: Read the “Installation and System-Management”-Manual. [;)] Principally you should create a backup before switching to the new machine. I would recommend, that you first install the new Attain-Server. Then you could connect the new server with the old DB-files, and then expand the old/new database. You also could create new - empty - database files and then import the backup-files. For this, the new DB size should be at least twice the size of the total size of FBK-files. Regards, Jörg
