Navision 4.0, Commerce Server 2007 and BizTalk 2006

By collecting different pieces of information from a variety of disparate sources, I’ve managed to develop what I believe to be an accurate BizTalk Orchestration, whose intention is to export a product catalog from Navision, and import it into commerce server.

Someone out there must have done this before, but I cannot find any definitive guide on how to do what I’m trying to do. Along the way, I’ve also configured the Navision Application Server and the Commerce Gateway. So many moving parts, so little focused documentation.

My questions are as follows:

  1. How do I initiate the export/import of the product catalog from Navision to Commerce server? It just sort of seems to be sitting there, idling.

  2. What log files can I check, to monitor activity?

  3. Does anyone else out there have experience in doing this, who can point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance,

Graham.

There are several alternatives.

The most common way is using daily synchronization. At the end of the day Navision will export data to an XML File. The other way will import it. This method seems to old fashioned but it’s simple and it works reliably.

In download section you have a paper to use BizTalk synchronization with SAP. You can use the same concept to have real time synchronization with SAP. This method is more difficult to get but is also possible.
