Navision 2009 and Different Time Zones

Hi,

We are in the process of implementing Nav 2009. At present, a lot of the development and testing is being done in our head office using the C/Side client and I believe that the plan is to move away from that and go with the role-tailored client for our final release.

I have been reading around the subject and I have noticed a few posts from people who have had problems with remote offices which operate in different time zones.

We have a numbe of jurisdictions around the globe who all connect via citrix to our head office. Citrix pulls through the client machines locale and so the time zones will differ for our different sites.

My questions are:

Will this affect our implementation of Nav if we have not considered time zones?

What are the implications of using Nav in different time zones?

Does the Role Tailored client remove this problem because the middle tier will sit in the same time zone as the database tier?

Your help on this would be most appreciated as we are getting to the stage where we are moving fast with the project.

Many Thanks,

D.

What I have experienced, that system clocks must be accurate, with time zones Domain Server deals normally, but once it took us a day to find out why a remote user was rejected to login - turned out he had dead CMOS battery, clock thus inaccurate and DS rejected him. Clocks ARE synchronized with Server, but AFTER sucessful login only.

But it is Win problem, not Navision’s…

Excellent, thanks Modris.

I imagine that would have been quite a problem…something which I will bare in mind.

Any other feedback on this?

Hello in 2009 Sp1 they have added the option to have the client and service tier on different time zone. It’s being released on Sept 1.
