NAS adding extra Sessions

We are having a problem with NAS adding extra sessions to our Session count periodically. At some stage during the day our Session count seems to double and therefore exceeds our licenced number of users which stops people logging in. I have seen it up to as many as 144 users which on a 79 user licence cant be bad.

This can be fixed easily by stopping and restarting the Navision Application Server.

We are running Navision 3.7 on SQL 2000, this was working fine until we moved to a new server.

Has anyone come across this problem before?

Is your NAS actually running? When NAS fails to log in, the WIndows Service tries again 30 seconds later. I’ve seen where NAS is trying to log in but fails, and it keeps the failed session alive, then opens a new one when it tries again.

Did you make sure that the windows user set up in the log on tab of your service is a valid user in Navision?

hi,

i noticed that too. For a few errors you don’t get a message from the Service, when you try to start. It looks like it is working properly. I always take a look on the EventMonitor, after I have added/installed a new NAS, to make sure it is really working.

I didn’t notice the problem with the filled up users, but we use the native db.

The NAS appears to be working OK and the user is a valid user in Navision.

There are no errors reported in the Event Log and the scheduled jobs I have running work correctly and post messages on completion to the Event Log.

Although I’ll keep an eye out for the log in failures.

Thanks
