I am upgrading a GB V2.6 to V4. I want to bring across the objects which we have created for them and redo the changes to the standard objects (using cut and paste where possible). Will I need to do a language translation on the V2.6 objects, given that they are in English ? Assuming that the client will only use the database in English, will I still need to perform some of the multilanguage steps in order to achieve a functional V4 system ? I have read the upgrade toolkit manual till my eyes glazed over but find it ambiguous.
The answer is definitely “NO”. For your question at least. If no caption is defined, the system should display the name instead. (Just be careful about TAB controls as they do not have a caption, just a name) The “Best practice” indeed recommends that you do a ML Enabled DB, which is fairly easy by just running a quick batch job (conv-ml.bat) or so.
