Has anyone run across a client which requires that not only the objects be multi-language, but some of the actual DATA as well. For example, suppose you want the chart of accounts, the item table, the item unit of measure table to be multi-language. If you have done this sort of thing before, what was your general approach? If you had such a multi-national client, but did not provide multi-language DATA, then what did you tell the client previously when the client pointed out that “Rosarita doesn’t understand the words ‘Accounts Receivable’”?

I have run into similar problems with clints (although not with Navision). The problem in my case was that client wanted to send different reports/documents to corporate headquarters which was in Germany, so everything (including data) was expected to be in german. While Navision supports some level of translation (see tables Item Translation, Unit Of Measure Translation) it is not sufficient for what you propose. There are several ways around this problem: 1) Add 1 field to table for every field that needs to be translated. (i.e., Description->Desc. Spanish) Show either one or the other, depending on current language chosen 2) Add translation tables for most important stuff (like Item Trans.)This is definitely more expensive, but I expect would be easier to upgrade. 3) Tell your client how much this is gonna cost him, and watch him send his employees to crash course in English [:D] Hope this helps, Jurica
