MICR Checks

Anyone knows where we can purchase the MICR fonts? Is it as simple as purchasing the fonts and printing the MICR number using these fonts nad the special toner cartridge?

There are free ones on the web. We used one at my old NSC and it worked fine. ------- Tim Horrigan horrigan@aol.com

At my old job with a small and struggling NSC in northern New England, I did a project where the customer didn’t have to buy a new printer. The way my boss explained it, the customer was using an ordinary off-the-shelf laser printer with a special cartridge with magnetic ink. I was just a “Back-Room Bob” who never ever got to go a customer site (except very occasionally to a customer whose office was 10 km away from ours.) I have no idea what type of printer this was, or whether the customer bought this specially for use with a previous accounting system, etc. I also have no idea if my boss knew what he was talking about— normally he did, but about 10% of the time he didn’t (which is not that bad a percentage.) In any case, we based our mods on a free add-on which someone had posted on the Navision US partner’s network, and we used a free MICR font which I found on the web. I imagine that most of you who do MICR implementations in the future will be paying for a MICR add-on from a fellow Navision partner— and a MICR font will be included in the package. ------- Tim Horrigan horrigan@aol.com
