How to exclude a BoM component item from being planned from Master Planning perspective. I just want to prevent that item from being planned (don’t want planning engine to create a planned purchase order)
Give it a manual coverage group.
If your question is for BOM component items (Child item) then go into BOM form, line view, general tab put the expiry date in valid field group.

just simple remove the item coverage setting in item master this will solve your problem.
Not true if the fallback coverage code in the planning parameters is not manual - setting it to a manual coverage code is the better way to go.
