Linked Server connection to NAV5.0

Hi guys,

For a reporting tool we need to setup a linked server connection (SQL2000 SP4) to Navision 5.0 (classic).

We prepare the migration to Navision 2009/SQL2008R2 but this is another story… :slight_smile:

Background:
At the moment we are still using NAV3.7 but we have to go an intermediate step to NAV5.0 for Win7.

Therefore we installed NAV5.0 on another port on the same server an it works fine. At our SQL-Server we installed the Nav5ODBC-Driver and you can access the database with Access or Excel.

If I try to access the NAV database with a linked server connection on the SQL server I got the following error:
Error 7399:OLE DB provider ‘MSDASQL’ reported an error.
Data source name not found and no default driver specified.
OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider ‘Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0’ IDBInitialize::Initialize returned 0x80004005: ].

The NAV3.7 ODBC driver is installed on this server too and it works fine.

What we did:

Does someone knows why the error comes up and how to solve it?

Thanks it advance to many responses! [:D]

Best regards
Christian
