Hi, I am an experienced Navision Developer and I have passed MS exam 070-228. I have been trying to get on a Navision SQL course (AT-SQL)run by Navision UK but they decline to run the course until there is sufficient interest. Can anybody help me by providing links to, or copies of some documentation on the implications / limitations of Navision on a SQL platform. I have seen some threads on hardware requirements and some treads which suggest problems with Merge replication but is there a single source of information of this kind? Any assistance will be gratefully received.
There are no limitations to my knowledge There is some useful material in the Application Designers Guide regarding SQL, and there is the Troubleshooting Toolkit which has both tools and documentation. I’m not aware of any other sources.
The biggest limitation of SQL, is that if you want SQL, to work, you have to follow the guidelines, and install it the way recommended by Navision. Your biggest limitation is going to be your IT department wanting to install the system their way instead of The Navision Way. People like Robert, have shown that SQL can be a very productive and successfull back end to Navision. Also if you want to learn SQL, I would suggest you go to the Members page, and do a search on all Robert’s and Lars Westman’s SQL postings, and read them, you will probably learn more there than any where else.
Robert, David Thanks for your feedback. If only Navision were as helpful as these for(a)(ums)[:)]
