Does anyone have a landed cost enhancement for Navision
Hi, I know as minimum 5 add-on’s for landed cost allocation. I even wrote one myself about two years ago. The main idea of all this add-ons is allocate additional invoices to posted or unposted purchase documents. But now I do not like this idea. About two ears ago I tried to sell (implement) my add-on in one large company. I showed how it works. It was fine. But this company had about 10 additional invoices per each Purchase Invoice in total account about 7% of cost. They calculate that they will spend additional 10000 person hours trying to allocate this invoices and they cannot guarantee that they will allocate this properly because it is very difficult to find real source for each additional Invoice. They estimate the quality of allocation about 80-85%. The funniest situation is they can predict the “Indirect Cost %” with quality 95% per each product group. This mean that if they fill field “Indirect Cost %” with estimated value they will have 2-3 times better Quality of data, plus they will save 10000 hours of internal work per year, plus they do not need to buy and implement my add-on. The Purchasing Manager said: “I will not be purchasing manager if I can not predict my landed cost with acceptable quality”. Conclusion: Ask your purchasing manager to estimate “Indirect Cost %” per product group. I can guarantee that quality of data will be much better than using any landed cost add-on.
