inventory control and purchasing

I own a small food distribution company, and am looking for better inventory controls and purchasing guides, without either building them from scratch or buying the advanced distribution module and granules. Any suggestions? I am upgrading to v2.6 shortly and there appears to be alot missing with 3.0’s advanced distribution. Thanks.

Hi Andrew Question 1 Are the problems simply system related, or system irrlevant? You can always use the requisition worksheet for reorddering based upon inventory parameters (although not date related as MRP). For invnetory control you could always utilise bins, or serial/lot numbers (not that I would recommend the use until you are on the Attain version), depends what your issues are with the current “inventory controls”. Regards Steve

The bin locations are to basic. I need to be able to follow inventory in multiple places throughout the warehouse. For instance, we may have one pulling location for an item, but excess product that can’t fit in that location, is stored some where else in the warehouse. I need to be able to track both. The requisition worksheet never worked properly and was extremely arbitrary with pars and re-ordering amounts. I was hoping for something that would automate corrrect pars, reordering amounts, and other areas of the purchasisng process.

Hi Andrew You require advanced inventory tracking but without building from scratch or buying the advanced distribution module, however the standard functionality does not provide you with the required flexibility - I am assuming you have reviewed the additions in Attain where parts of AD have been incorporated into the standard code. Seems to me the only option left open to you is an additional pre-written inventory bolt on. I suggest you search in this area for something to meet your needs. Steve
