According to my observations, the date of modification of database FDB is not updated by the writing of data in the database. That poses to me a light problem for the management of incremental backups bound for a protected bunker. Would somebody have it an easy way or a solution ???
Hello. Please note that you can’t do incremental backups of a Navision database. If you really want to backup your database during different periods of the day then you would either need to start a Navision backup or stop the Navision service on the server and then copy the database to another folder.
My question was not clear. In fact I need to know regularly if the data base were modified or not. The service of backup is based on the size of the file and the date of modification to check if the file has been modified since the last backup. But this two information are not updated when records are added or updated. It is thus not possible (outside) to know if the data base is to be backed up.
The database file’s modification date is not set until the database manager releases the file (i.e. when working in stand-alone mode on closing Navision, when working in c/s-mode on shutting down the server). Kind regards, Jan Hoek Weha Automatisering BV Woerden - The Netherlands
