How do I become a Certified Navision Developer

My tests are some years ago as well. We had a test called “Product Specialist” which I did NOT pass. And that just because of “Company Consolidation”. I just never have used that, neither did our customers, so I failed. I’m still feeling bad about it.[}:)]

I was certified a long long time ago so long ago that this forum as still an email list??? But any way when I needed a developer licence (to do another training course) I had to do a beta exam and answer about 120 odd questions (and some were very odd) using paper and pen at the Navision UK office. Anyway that has now lapsed now and a few months ago I looked to doing the exams. One of the questions was on what tab on the setup menu would you find ……, My answer would have been, which tab do you want to find it, I can put it on any or all of them??? So I decided against taking the exams, I don’t think I have much need of being certified now as when MSCS has SQL issues on Navision they seem to subcontract me in. So what I can say is that if you are new to Navision or young then certification can be useful. NSC’s do have to have certain number of people who are qualified so you can get a job to fulfil that need. But once you are known then it really does not matter, all that is required is experience. This is different to the old days, as nobody would have been employed who does not have the qualifications. Paul Baxter

Hi Paul, whilst I totally agree with your comments, take a quick look at the name of the Forum [B)] [8D] Basically this thread was started for those begining a career in Navision. Still we want them to learn from the more experienced Navisioners, so your comments are most welcome [:D] thanks.

Hi , I am newbie to the world of ERP’s and navission is where I started my googling. I have been able to get started on reading about ERP’s and business processes and will be installing a demo version of Navision soon. You mentioned that and I quote “For those that want to get started as a Navision developer, I would like to put together a step by step of what to do”, just wondering if you have been able to do so and where can I find it? Thanks /adnan

The company I work for have just signed to replace our ageing green screen system with Navision. I am not sure if this is off subject, but I believe Microsoft are looking to create a qualification in Navision for end users (mainly from an IT perspective). It is one thing we brought up with them was when trying to employ someone with Navision experience, how do you know they are up to the mark. I think it was a slow process as the training is outsourced and a suitable pricing structure is needed

That’s easy. Ask them what their MNSOnline user ID is, and then have a look at what they have posted here. [:D]

Moved to Dynamics NAV - Certification and Training Forum-

I’ll put it in my website since, this forum has been a good resource

This is a good topic. I’m working for a solutions company and courses are so hard to come by even so. I’m learning with a the Dev manuals and just by pure practice (doing tasks for clients). I rely on senior developers for anything that the book cannot explain. As for the book…I personally find it hard to work with sometimes. I emailed somebody from the Centre where the exams are done asking if there were any more info on this topic on the web.

PS: David, thanks for your posts, I’ve found some good hints on this site. You’re doing a good thing here!

Thank you, you are very welcome.
