What are the business disadvantages for allowing posting dates prior to the set allowed dates?
If the reports to tax authorities are already prepared and sent, CFO must be aware that someone posted a backdated transaction - it might change those reports and they must then be updated and resent.
My experience shows, that normally users are allowed current +/- one month, if they need to post something out of that range, they contact manager/CFO, who is the only one with rights to set/change from-to dates in GL setup. Such approach guarantees that backposting doesn’t go unnoticed.
To-date, in turn keeps users from accidental far future posting, for example, 5011 instead of 2011 - hitting one row too high on numeric keypad (5 instead of 2 and like).
