From Financials To Manufacturing

Has anyone taken a user with Financials 2.60 and moved them to Manufacturing 2.60? Fortunately the user I need to do this with is not using reservations so the difference in the reservation systems is not a problem but simply doing a backup/restore leaves items without units of measure. Has anyone been down this road before and is able to offer some advice/tools to help? Please? Cheers, John

Might there be an Upgrade Toolkit for MFG 2.60? If so, you should be able to use it to grab your NF2.60 and bring it up (relatively) smoothly. Kristopher Webb Kelar Corporation, Canada

Sorry, I should have said in my original posting. The CD does have an upgrade toolkit but sadly it has been designed for upgrading earlier versions of manufacturing, not crossing from NF to NM. Thanks for the thought anyway. Cheers, John

Hi John, You are right there is no upgrade tkt for NF to NM. Last time when I had to do this exercise, I imported the objects directly into the NF database. The only place which affects the objects are in the item ledger and the general posting setup which will be replaced instead of merging. NM will only add some fields, as far as the item tables are concerned they are already included with the NM objects in 2.60. The exercise is a bit tedious but no short cuts. Why not upgrade the customer to Attain? Lars Strøm Valsted ------------------------- Why can’t programmers tell the difference between Christmas and Halloween? Because OCT(31) = DEC(25)

Thanks Prashanth. We seem to have managed by doing a restore into the new database although some data needs fixing up. Units of measure did not seem to come through on the items ?!?!?!?! We’ll tackle that as we go. Lars, that was my reaction but the customer said “No” and could not be persuaded otherwise. So just got to live with it. Cheers John
