As we all know that FA depreciation will be calculated based on the Placed in service date not based on the acquisition date .
As per the above statement Even you though user purchase the Fixed Assets in bulk quantity ,but depreciation will be asset wise , because placed in service is different.
User creates the Purchase order using Type - Service Item or Procurement Category for Laptops and entered the Qty as 100 and place the check in New fixed asset , then post the purchase packing slip/ Invoice system created the one Asset in FA module.
But what client is asking system should create the 100 Assets automatically in FA module by dividing the total value which was entered in the Purchase order when user posted the packing slip/ Invoice of PO in Ax 2012 CU7 , because even user purchased the laptop on same day , but usage date will differ.
As you know all know it is difficult to create the 100 lines in the PO for each laptop.
Could any share What more I supposed to do to achieve the above requirement of 100 assets creation ?
However, there are few points that you would need to think of before trying to have it in AX.
Imagine the no.of Assets that your master is going to have over a period of time. As the amount of effort needed to run the acquisitions and depreciation for the assets is high, you may try to high light that to your customer.
all of these assets are not being placed in service at the same time? atleast, you can try grouping them based on the placed in service date and split your PO lines into 5 or so.
If your customer would like to see how many desktops are forming each asset, use the quantity related fields in the general tab of Asset master.
How about using Inventory to fixed asset journals. i.e., procure 100 items and then whenever you are placing it into service, ask them to do a inventory to FA journal. (small customization may be needed in terms of creating multiple lines with less effort)
