am using Ax 2009 when am creating new group with new deprication rate system give me error message that
service life must be greater than 0 (zero) for the deprication
Some of the depreication methods need - service life for calculation of depreciation - so when you attach such kind of depreciation profile to fixed asset group / or a fixed asset - with the help of value model - you need to fill the service life field - for this see in FA group → value model - fill the service life
i had inserted the service life as 3.00 but depreciton period a beer as disapled and empty and also error message is there
What is the depreciation Method you are using?
Can you explain the sequence of steps you have followed - and exactly at what process your getting the error.

We did upgrade from Ax 4 To Ax 2009 this the first creation for FixedAsset group after the upgrade when we try to assign valu module in general tab and assign service life value thedeprecition period not caculated and the filed is disabled when we need to save or cloase the form it give the message that Service life must be greater than 0 for the depreciation method Straight line service life.
The depreciation periods will calculated based on - Depreciation year and period frequency attached to Depreciation profile.(Which denotes when the depreciation need to be calculated - for example - monthly,quarterly etc.). and this depreciation period is mandatory along with service life. Check with the Depreciation year and period frequency attached to Depreciation profile.
