# Field Reference Must be filled In Issue while creating External Code for dimension

Hi,

I am working on ax 2012 R3

I have done below

Organization Administration --\>Organization–\>Operating Units–\>New(Department)–\>Created New one .

GL–\>Chart Of accounts --\>Dimensions–\> select(Department)–\>Financial Dimension values–\>Selected Created one.

When I add the new external code value and save I am getting below

"Field Reference must be filled _In"._

The reason is the reference records is missing in the Table **_“DimensionAttributeValue”._**

**_Can anybody let me know in which case it will insert the record in the “DimensionAttributeValue” table or am I Missing anything while creating above._**
