Use Configurable BOMS and or product builder. use the size colour dimensions as much as possible to give variants on the engineered to order requirements. I’m not sure if any one has done an implementation in fabrication of industrial heaters but there a fabrication companies out their who are using Axapta.
Good question. Watermark Europe is developing a series of extensions for Axapta that would fit the ETO businesses. But you can do it elegantly today by going to Sales orders lines /Inquiries/composed of Tree. Imagine you have just configured a basic module and want to add ETO parts (unique to this order, to this customer) You can easily enhance any BOM coming out of Product Builder, Reroll the cost and get an adjusted cost/sales price. Watermark has integrated BlueStar, a very nice PDM system, with Axapta 3.0 Then you have engineers, working in their Cad system, being able to create a custom-BOM right in Axapta. (have seen this demo yesterday) This “vertical” version of Axapta also has a Service module and a new configurator.
