We have recently rolled out an Enterprise Portal solution to suppliers. Since go-live, we have had problems with the performance of the site and users having to wait for minutes at a time for pages to load, only for the pages to be blank and the user having to refresh a number of times before the data is displayed.
Has anybody had similar problems and is there a way to speed this up?

Performance problems with EP is a well known issue. If you have access to CustomerSource and if you haven’t already done so, search for KB article 2587754, download and install the hot fix.

I believe fix for this particular KB is released as XPO. If this is the case, then importing XPO into AX environment and AOS restart afterwards should be enough.
BTW KB article 893082 contains step by step procedures for importing hot fixes into AX.
