Differentiate

How can we differentiate between a variable, table field and a function? Thanx and regrds Rajan

Simply looking at the C/AL code, it is sometimes not easily perceivable (like in any other Object Oriented Programming Language). It depends on the context, current object, etc. But a look at the C/AL Symbol Menu (F5) will usually help to some extent. Is this helpful?

It is helpful but it takes a lot of time. Rajan

In 3.70 (and perhaps earlier releases) when you are in the C/AL Editor you can click on a variable in the code and the status bar at the bottom of the window will indicate the type of variable. Unfortunately, this only works for variables and not field names and functions.

Yes, correct, Jack. This functionality was actually introduced in the last pre-Attain release of Financials (Navision Financials 2.65C).
