What is the purpose of using a deposit slip? It doesn’t appear to affect the functionality of anything.
In business scenario, there can be case that your customer is paying you through check. After you receive the check, you fill a form stating check details and drop in the dropbox. that form is nothing but deposit slip.
You need to check use deposit slip checkbox on the payment journal line and once the payment journal is posted you can enter deposit slip details also.
