Hi, We still work with navision financials 2nd version. Is there any easy way to link a user to a department. So costs and profits this user books are automaticaly assigned to a department? Thanks!

I assume by “2nd version”, you really mean 2.00, 2.01, 2.50 or 2.60? In any case you would need to write some code to assign the department. The alternative is to train your users to enter the department code, and set department mandatory on the appropriat G/L accounts .

No, department and project code are always linked to account, customer, vender, FA, and so on. This is also the case with Navision 3.x, there is never a link to the user. There would be quite some customization (programming) necessary to meet this requirement for the whole application becuase department code is used all over, if it is just for GL it should be quite easy. In Attain version 3 onwards, there is the concept of responsibility centres, which can have dimensions assigned to them. You can then assign a sales, purchase or service responsibility centre to a user. This way your ‘department’ can automatically be linked to a user.
