Hi Robert,

In earlier version we imported .dat file now it is DynamicsAX2012R3DemoData.exe.Its available in Partner source.

If we run the exe file it will extract the data.

The below image explains the extraction of data.

Image

It contains three types of files:

  • Xml (A bcp data file that contains table data. Columns are separated by #|EOC|#. Rows are separated by #|EOR|#\n.)
  • Out (A bcp data file that contains the table metadata (column descriptions).
  • OutModel (This metadata includes all names and IDs of the table and its fields. This file also includes the element Type attribute, which stores the names and IDs of any Microsoft Dynamics AX tables, classes, or extended data types that are referenced by the table)

To import this data we need to Test Data Transfer Tool. It is available in Information Source

In the folder we will find one .xpo file.

Import xpo file in AX.

Once import is done, will observe one job under Jobs node as shown above image.

Image

Run the Job, it generates one metadata.xml file in temporary file path as shown in below image.

Image

Go to the specified path as shown in the info log.

Image

Copy the Metaata.xml file and paste into C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Test Data Transfer Tool (Beta)[Lists] .Already exist overwrite it.

Image

Go to cmd Promt:

Change the directory to Programfiles x86>> Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Test Data Transfer Tool (Beta)

As shown in the image

Enter Y.

It will take couple of hours… and it depends upon the respective machine.
