Database very slow after optimizing tables

Hi, We’ve recently optimized the tables in our database. Before this it was reasonably quick, but becoming slower, hence we felt the need to do this optimisation. However, after running this the databse has got extremely slow, sometimes taking several seconds to perform functions that were instant before. The worst case of this is the screen we have to invoiced lines, filtered by customer number - this used to take around a second to display, it now takes around 2 minutes! Is the optimisation a ‘bad’ thing to run in terms of speed? we have run it before and it seemed to improve things. Any advice on this would be welcome. We are running Attain 3.01B on SQL 2000. Many thanks Justin

Hi Justin! Which functionality did you used? Optimization in Attain or optimization in SQL in the course of a Maintance Plan…? We never tried the Attain Optimization with an SQL-Database, but with a C/Side one. The performance was much better than before… If we have an SQL-Database, we use the SQL-Optimization in course of the Maintance Plan - we had no problems so far. Suggestion: Try to create a new database in SQL and restore a complete backup. Good Luck! Brgds Roland

Hi, We used the optmisation in Attain itself. We’ve used this before and we think it improved things. I’ve started a maintenance plan optimisation on our development server to see if that makes a difference. We have tried a restore to a new database, and it was still slow. Thanks for your help [:)]

Hi, Using the database maintenance plan has made no difference. It must be something SQL related though, we have restored the database to a native Navision server and it’s just as fast as ever. Thanks Justin
