Due to various historical errors, an item has an incorrect unit cost. Given that the correct unit cost can be calculated manually, is there a safe way to ‘fix’ the unit cost in Navision (say, by positive and negative journals)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Close off all open transactions on the item, so it is fully invoiced etc.

Run Adjust Cost Item entries

Remove all of the stock

Bring in all of the stock at the correct unit cost.

You could use a revaluation journal to revalue the individual positive entries, so this may fix the odd error transaction.

It depends on the transactions, not to mention your costing method!

Off topic,

what if the item had positive and negative entries with wrong cost (increase and decrease) and the current inventory is 0.

is there a way to fix it?

(considering the positive entry is a positive adjustment)

It depends where the cost issue has happened. If the positive was wrong and the cost on the negative was manually altered you could revalue the positive.

Ultimately loading the reverse will sort it out, but you need to make sure everything is posted, or it will just move!

when i calculate inventory from revaluation journal dont get closed entries so i can revaluate them, only the “open” ones.

Hi Romeo

You need to manually add the closed lines. The argument being why are you revaluing when all the known costs have been processed?
