Is there a way within AX to maintain contract within AX covering contract term, tenure, renewal reminders etc. etc

Not really. Microsoft extended the blanket orders from a sales and purchase perspective but only ever called them agreements. There are elements of the functionality there like the terms and tenure, and a reminder could be seen on a cue, but not there really in my opinion - make what you can out of the agreements.
