Communication protocols

Our Axapta consultant gave us the following information (apparently straight from the Deployment manual): First of all, you will have to make sure that the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 default network library is set to TCP/IP. You have to check this, because when you install Microsoft Axapta 3.0, you will configure the ODBC connection to the server, as part of the installation program. The advantage of changing the default network library is, that all future ODBC configurations will default to the protocol TCP/IP. This will also ensure that you never configure an ODBC connection, which uses e.g. named-pipes. After choosing the Client Network Utility option, you are presented with the a window. Please verify that the “Enabled protocols by order” has TCP/IP listed. If any other protocols are listed, you will have to remove them, as they will not be used. According to our consultant we should make sure that no other comms protocols are enabled as this will hamper Axapta’s performance. But as far as I understand it, Axapta will only use TCP/IP and not worry about other enabled protocols. Different protocols will also not interfere with one another as far as I understand. Can anyone help out with some info on this issue? Will be greatly appreciated!
