Color on Reports?!!

I know you can select color on the report and do all the things you want, but when i print it is not in color, is there something im missing??

No you’re not missing anything, that is one of the wonderful features we all love about Navision. This has always been a very annoying thing about the report designer. The only way you can get colors into a report is to put images in it.

You could change the background color by putting a bitmap in the background [;)]

Or, you can use third party reporting tools, especially if MS SQL is your database. I`ve used Crystal Reports extensively, now MS SQL reporting and analysis tools are available either.

There is one more good reason for using, say, Crystal. You can write a stored procedure to collect & filter data, thus moving all data processing to MS SQL, wich will be substantially faster than native NAV report, for example, inventory turnover report took hours in NAV, while SP+Crystal did the same job in less than 5 minutes, the same with other heavily loaded reports. Not to say these third party tools allow you to format your reports with colors, conditional formatting, drill-downs, all this easily formatted as HTML to distribute etc.

In addition, how you want to sort is never an issue, making columns, page of page #'s, etc. Crystal is everything report designer isn’t. You can export your report into almost any type you can think of, CSV, word, excel, pdf, xml, HTML, blah blah. Plus you can create as many reports as you like without having to buy anthing more.

Damn !! we are using Crystal for some other things, i guess ill have to get creative, thanks for all your replies.
