My client is a multi company international corporation. They have 55 legal entities using Navision 3.70 All of the companies have very different charts of accounts. This makes group consolidation more difficult than in needs to be. I am personally “responsible” for 17 of these companies. The Group has decided that they want to implement a standardised chart of accounts across all Navision-User companies by the 31st March 2006. The division (17 companies) for which I am working wants this completed by the 31 December. To make things more complicated, we need to change the dimensions in most of the companies too and implement the Jobs granule into all but 5 of them - because most of the 17 currently use Global Dim1 to identify the “job”. We have looked at several options (including renumbering - which has been discounted; and creating new companies) and they all require large resource and a huge amount of work. Our Navision support partner has told us that they have never known anyone who has actually changed the whole chart - several who have considered it and decided that it was too difficult. Does anyone have any ideas as to how this can be achieved with relative ease. Has anyone else done this before? For reference, I am suggesting that they should look at a new company. Create a “Base” which contains all of the setup standards which they require (as well as the standard CoA) and then use that as a template for the companies themselves. Not sure that 3 months (due to start in September) is long enough!! HELP [:(] Thanks Mark
The good “Starting” idea is to use Consolidation possibility of Navision … 1. Create a new company 2. a new Chart of accaunts 3. Dimensions with dimension values 4. Configure Consolidation proces (remaping sequences) 5. ask EXPERIENCED Navision Consultant in FINANCIAL! Management Gregory
Hi Mark, I have a customer who changed their entire chart of accounts. At that time they had “only” 3 companies. All with different charts. We ended up with creating a template-company, just as you suggest. regards Alexander
I have done a conversion of a client that was on 2.01 going to 2.60, (it was a long time ago) and had about 160 companies, on various Charts of Accounts, all moving to a consolidated set of accounts, the process went well, its not a big a task as you may expect. There are a lot of difffernet options, and you need to review all of them, and decide what is best for YOUR company, since each business model will have its own ideal soltion.
