Can Item number change during Batch order

Hi All,

we have a Steel industry, and Thickness of the sheet changed the item number. EX: the sheet with Thickness 0.3-0.35 have a one item number and the sheet with thickness 0.36-0.4 have another item number.

in AX we create a sales order and then create batch order based on it. and choose the item number for sheet with thickness 0.3-0.35 but in reality when we start the production, the final item have a Thickness = 0.36 then so we produce the other item number.

we must change the item number that is different from the first item number! but we can’t do this in AX. do you have any solution for situation like this.

The item number being made is always the driver, you would need to close that works order and open another.
